WORLD CHAMPIONS!

They went in without their best players (many Jap Major Leaguers preferred spring training). They were nearly eliminated before Mexico miraculously upset the U.S. They had their hearts torn and beaten to pieces after an American umpire reversed a decision which cost Japan the game in a round 2 match against, of course, the U.S. They lost twice to rival Korea. But then again, they handed Korea their only loss in the whole tournament by a 6-0 margin. Then they faced Olympics champions Cuba for the inaugural World Baseball Classic championship game.

And they won. 10-6. World Baseball Classic Champions. First. Ever. History.
